“Boozhoo minogishagan. That means ‘good day.’
Miskoasin nindizhinikaaz. That means ‘Red Stone’ in Ojibwe.
And I’ve been asked by cc to contribute something to the cause for fundraising water for the people in Gaza. My heart goes out to the people over there. Water is necessary. Here we are at the beautiful Gichigami, Lake Superior, this beautiful lake. I send prayers through the water over the wave. This piece here was made at our workshop at the Youth and Elders Gathering at Michipicoten First Nation. As cc was talking to me, it came to me that this is the water star. All these beads are the colour of water, and this is the water star; and the feather, the Bird Nation is within it. This is a dewe’gan, dewe’ganne, a mini drum. It could be considered a sacred item made with intention and prayer. So I send that out to you the people and to the people who are allies and who are doing that support and doing that good work to help take care of the people over there. Miigwetch.”
